What will I learn?

Our Mining Engineering major has been developed as part of the Minerals Industry National Associate Degree (MINAD) project established by the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA). You will study planning, design, testing, and the operation of open-cut and underground mines, but also get the opportunity to put your knowledge and skills into practice in class and at mining sites. Examine applied geomechanics, material science, engineering design, geology, haulage and transportation, and explore surveying, ventilation, computer application and automation, mineral processing, and mine planning.Mining is one of Australia’s largest and versatile industries and gives you the option to work in exotic locations. With your skills gained at UniSQ, you can explore careers in drill and blast engineering, quarrying, or excavation engineering. Graduates will be able to assist with planning mining developments, designing pit and waste areas, scheduling mining excavation and haulage processes, instrumentation and geotechnical monitoring, controlling and monitoring mining operations, and production.
