Business Information Systems (BIS) underpin everything a business does. In an information age, with a focus on information as a key business resource, BIS have emerged as the key enabler of innovation and operational efficiency by ensuring the right information is available to the right people at the right time.BIS examines how information, knowledge, data and enterprise information systems can be used strategically for business process improvement. You will learn how to develop innovative and practical solutions for business problems.You will gain expertise on BIS strategy and e-commerce, information and knowledge management, business intelligence and decision making, and business process management and innovation.There is currently a global shortage of workers skilled in BIS and salaries for graduates are relatively high, with professionals in demand. Employers are looking for people who understand both business and technology issues and have the skills and knowledge to help shape their organisation's strategy and planning.By studying BIS, you will be equipped with the blend of sought-after business and technical skills and play an important role in helping organisations make the most of the potential of modern information and communication technologies.The Bachelor of Advanced Computing/Bachelor of Commerce is a combined undergraduate coursework degree that will develop your knowledge and skills in computing while cultivating business expertise. Underpinned by critical analytical and leadership skills, this course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society.You will complete core units that cover the skills needed to work as a computing professional, along with a major from the Advanced Computing disciplinary pool and advanced computing elective units.Additionally, you will complete Commerce degree core units and a major from the Commerce disciplinary pool. You will also complete units from the Open Learning Environment and elective units as needed to meet the requirements of the course.
