What will I learn?

We are seeing Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed realities (MR) redefining the way humans interact with the world. From simulation suites where surgeons use VR to practice procedures, to AR interfaces for reimagining architecture and interior design, to new kinds of entertainment and journalism – immersive media is at the forefront of future directions in many industries. Immersive media can bring stories to life, enhance education and create interactive experiences. Use your expertise in virtual (VR), mixed (MR) and augmented realities (AR) and merge technology to become the next generation of creative professionals. You’ll work with industry standard software, develop technical skills and create immersive worlds that will stand out.Learn the technical skills required to produce and plan immersive experiences. You will have the opportunity to produce creative content using the latest industry-standard technologies. Gain an understanding of how immersive technologies affect people from the physiological perspective. You’ll explore immersive design theory and the capabilities of game engines – and use your creative skills to solve real-word problems. Develop an awareness of the ethical implications within the industry and examine future industry trends. You can also study a complementary major from a range of creative areas to expand your skill set.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be eligible, an applicant must have achieved at least one of the following minimum entry requirements and demonstrate they fulfil any prerequisite and essential criteria for admission. In cases where there are more eligible applicants than available places, admission will be competitive with ranks based on the entry criteria.

Secondary education (Year 12)

Completion of a secondary education qualification equivalent to the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Completion of an award from a registered training organisation (RTO) at Certificate IV (AQF level 4) or higher.
Higher education study

Successful completion of at least 6 months full-time study (or equivalent part-time) in a higher education award program.
