What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Design Arts with a major in Interior Design empowers you to envision and create spaces that go beyond aesthetics - designing with genuine consciousness for the environment, human well-being, ergonomics, and cultural diversity. From residential homes to hospitality venues and corporate environments, you'll learn to forge the connections between people and the spaces they inhabit.Great interior design is never just about how a space looks - it's about how it works, how it feels, and who it's for. This major develops your ability to think spatially, design responsibly, and bring considered, original interior environments to life across a range of real-world contexts.Learning is structured around the Design Laboratory - a studio-based environment where you apply research, technical skill, and creative thinking to develop original work within your specialisation. Every trimester opens with a combined theoretical lecture shared across all four disciplines, before transitioning into discipline-specific studio practice where academic mentors guide you through lectures, tutorials, technical demonstrations, and self-directed studio time.Across six trimesters - Exploration, Foundation, Issues, Global, Industry, and Capstone - you'll move from developing your spatial design identity through to producing sophisticated, commercially responsive interior solutions. You'll engage with real industry briefs, collaborate on global projects with LCI campuses internationally, and complete a professional placement inside a real design practice or creative organisation.Throughout the course, you'll develop technical proficiency in industry-standard tools including SketchUp and AutoCAD, alongside a deep understanding of materials, finishes, spatial planning, sustainable design practice, and client communication.
