Giving children the best possible start to life is a valuable role you can play in many education setting from birth to 8 years. USQ’s Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) enables you to work expertly in child care centres, Kindergartens and primary schools. Offered online, on campus or a combination of both, this practical degree fits in with your life.

Already have an early childhood qualification from TAFE or another recognised provider? USQ may be able to offer you credit/RPL to help you finish your degree faster.
Professional accreditation
Graduates of the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) are prepared to support the learning of children from birth to eight years old, which means you are eligible to apply for teacher registration through the Queensland College of Teachers. To be eligible for registration in Queensland, both domestic and international students must have at least 50% of supervised practical experience in Australian schools. Live interstate or overseas? You will need to investigate registration eligibility on an individual basis.
Since 2018, another requirement is the completion of a Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) in the final supervised placement.
In addition to completing all requirements for the degree, students need to pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) prior to graduation. It's recommended that students pass the LANTITE before the successful completion of 16 courses. Please register for the LANTITE test through the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) website.
This program is approved with the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
Career outcomes
Graduates of the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) will be well qualified for employment in traditional and diverse roles in a range of early childhood settings ranging from early learning centres to kindergartens in Queensland, as well as elsewhere in Australia and in many overseas jurisdictions, subject to local requirements.
