The early years of children’s lives are incredibly important. This nationally accredited program focuses on children from birth to eight years. In this program you will develop competence and expertise to contribute to young children's sense of agency, wellbeing and learning capabilities.

In this program you will:

  • Learn about the importance of wellbeing, play and supportive environments in early learning
  • Qualify to work and lead in childcare, kindergarten and primary school (with a focus on Prep to Year 3)
  • Connect knowledge and practice through Supervised Professional Experiences in a range of early childhood and school settings
  • Engage with community projects and work with children and their families to gain valuable Wider Field Experience

Personal statement requirement

As part of your application, you are required to complete an online questionnaire to demonstrate your motivation for, and understanding of, the program and profession. In the questionnaire, you will be asked to rank a series of statements in order of what you think is most to least important. You will also need to write a 600-1000 word personal statement on why you think you would make a great teacher, and why influencing the future appeals to you. After you have submitted an application for this program, you will be contacted with further information about the written statement and how to complete your application.

For students from United States

Students must have One of the following: US High School Certificate + SAT scores, or SAT + AP scores, or ACT scores, or High School Diploma and AP. Students must have completed a minimum level of education similar to successful completion of Australian Year 12 with good grades. English Language Requirements accepted: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each subtest; TOEFL: Paper-based: Overall score of 550 with minimum essay score of 4; TOEFL: Internet-based: Overall score of 76 with minimum score of 18 for writing; Pearson Test of English: Overall score of 50 with no communicative score less than 50; CAE/CPE: Overall score of 169 or above with no less than 162 in each skill; ISLPR (IIAA accredited)- (previously ASLPR): 3 in all four skill areas; Global Assessment Certificate (GAC): Successful completion with a minimum GPA of 2.3; USC's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 2: Successful completion; USC's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 3: Successful completion.

For international students

You must:

  • be at least 17 years of age, or have completed Year 12 or equivalent

IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 7.5 minimum 8.0 in speaking and listening and 7.0 in all other subtests; TOEFL (Internet-based): overall score of 115 with minimum score of 27 for listening and speaking and 25 in writing and reading; TOEFL (Paper-based) overall score of 660 with minimum essay score of 5.5; Pearson Test of English: Overall score of 73 with no listening and speaking score less than 79 and no reading and writing score less than 65; ISLPR: A minimum of 4 for speaking, listening and reading and a minimum of 3 for writing; CAE (or CPE): Overall score of 191 or above with no less than 200 in speaking and listening and 185 in the other skills
