What will I learn?

An Honours year is a one-year full time or part time program designed for high-achieving students who are ready to deepen their expertise and explore their passion through research. The Honours year in Media and Communications offers you the opportunity to gain a competitive edge in the media industry while exploring a project you are genuinely passionate about. It combines advanced coursework with a thesis based on a topic you develop yourself, allowing you to investigate virtually any area of media, from politics to podcasts. Throughout the year, you will engage with major issues in contemporary media and communication, deepen your expertise, and refine your specialisation using advanced research and project skills. You will demonstrate your conceptual abilities through your project outcomes, which are assessed by leading figures in academia and industry. This degree builds on your professional training in key areas of media production, and provides an advanced education in the history, theory, and professional practices of the field. Your Honours project will be supported by a supervisor whose academic and industry expertise aligns with your topic. Whether you're aiming to boost your employability, develop specialised analytical skills, or pave the way to a PhD, an Honours degree offers a powerful platform to elevate your academic and professional future.
