The MSF40222 Certificate IV in Furniture Design and Manufacturing prepares students for careers in the furniture and manufacturing industry. This course combines design theory with hands-on training in furniture production, CAD (computer-aided design), machine operation and sustainable practices. Delivered through classroom learning, practical workshops and industry master classes, students develop skills in design principles, woodworking, joinery and quality control. Graduates gain the confidence, technical capability and industry-ready skills needed to work across furniture design, manufacturing and custom production environments.

The course focus is on enabling students to design and produce individual fine furniture for display, custom production, and furniture for volume production.
Furniture designers are experts in creating and designing furnishings while considering both fashion and functionality.
They design interior and exterior furniture, often keeping factors like sustainability, ergonomics, customer style preferences and practicality in mind.
