What will I learn?

Empower yourself to shape brighter futures for young individuals with this qualification. Pursuing a career in working with youth is both fulfilling and challenging, offering you the opportunity to significantly impact the lives of children and young adults. Study how to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people while working to legal and ethical requirements. You’ll learn to look after the holistic welfare of children and teenagers including their safety, emotional health and social connectivity by implementing intervention strategies and facilitating a range of community-based programs. Throughout the course you’ll develop skills in facilitating community education and development. You’ll gain proficiency in effective advocacy techniques, as well as undertake case work and report writing. In addition, you’ll acquire skills in understanding legal and ethical requirements, planning and implementation of youth programs, and implementing policies and guidelines. A supervised or simulated work placement embedded in the course will provide a supportive environment for applying your learnings firsthand.

Entry requirements

For international students

Completion of CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services is required for entry into this course.

Students must be 18 years of age prior to commencing this course, in order to participate in the work experience.

This course requires immunisations and/or proof of vaccination status before attending mandatory work placement. Costs and vaccine requirements may vary depending on your placement centre and/or doctors fee schedule. Please follow instructions/advice provided to you during enrolment/orientation. You will not be able to complete your course if these requirements are not met.
