What will I learn?

This course equips you with broad skills in technical photography (film and digital), as well as in the application of elements and principles of design and visual communication theory, to enhance your image production. You will develop skills in studio and natural lighting, print-making, portraiture, media, illustrative and commercial photography, as well as videography for social media. You will build your portfolio within a supportive and collaborative studio environment and explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within your photography practice, to gain an understanding as to how AI tools can transform and streamline your workflow and enhance creativity. Additionally the course prepares you for one of the leading growth areas in photography – social media content creation. You will study business, marketing and commercial photography to prepare you to create visually compelling branding and product images, as well as videos tailored for online platforms. The Australian Government’s Job Outlook service predicts strong future growth for digital creative roles such as photographers, digital content creators and videographers with approximately 27,000 new jobs expected over the next five years. Upon completion, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to work independently or collaboratively as a photographer across a wide range of genres within the creative industries. The course offers excellent articulation pathways to higher education programs. TAFE Queensland graduates thrive through dynamic industry partnerships that elevate both learning and employability.
