What will I learn?

Build your technical competence and creative thinking in the design, measurement and theory of audio and acoustics. You will gain an understanding of how sound shapes your experience of communication, entertainment and spatial awareness, opening up a diversity of career paths including audio production, system design and acoustic consulting. With extensive experience analysing and controlling the physical phenomena affecting buildings, practitioners of Architectural Science have a profound impact on the function, aesthetics and efficiency of architectural spaces. Sound is a constant throughout your life""involving, informing and profoundly shaping your experience of communication, entertainment and architectural spaces. This unique and challenging degree will give you a solid foundation in the design, measurement and theory of audio and acoustics. From this foundation you can choose to specialise in an area of interest including acoustics, audio systems and audio production. Throughout the Architectural Science (Audio & Acoustics) Program, you will combine aesthetic sound design, new media, sound recording and system design with acoustic engineering, computer modelling and psychology. You will build on a foundational understanding of the broader aspects of design science (including illumination, building services, sustainable design and indoor environment quality), with access to the Faculty of Architecture's world-class facilities.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to this course requires

a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification.

Graduate Certificate students may apply to upgrade to the Diploma or Masters at the completion of their program (with a weighted average mark of at least 65).

IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band

TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing

Pearsons Test of English: A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
