What will I learn?

The Master of Counselling (Qualifying) pathway enables you to apply for registration as a counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). Choose from our specialisations in Child, Youth & Family Therapy, Mental Health Practice, or Trauma-Focused Practice.

Upskill to an advanced level in various specialist counselling areas, as well as research principles and methods.



Study your main course load online and gain practical experience through on-campus residential school courses and clinical placements. For Advanced Entry students the practical experience is included only if you elect to study the foundation courses.

Entry requirements

For international students

Completion of an Australian university 3-year bachelor degree, or equivalent, in a related area such as counselling, psychology, social work, or human services with a minimum GPA of 4.0.

Holding an undergraduate bachelor qualification or a graduate diploma in a related area such as counselling, psychology, social work, or human services with evidence of GPA.

Applicants with bachelor degrees in other areas may apply to the Graduate Diploma of Counselling and articulate into the Master of Counselling after successful completion of four (specific) courses with a a minimum GPA of 4.0.
