What will I learn?

Develop specialised technical knowledge in geomechanical engineering, learning how to examine soil and rock layers and determine their physical and chemical properties to design foundations and earthworks structures.This course is ideal for qualified engineers seeking to move into a management role or to specialise or update their skills.The Master of Engineering (Geomechanical Engineering) is a postgraduate coursework degree that will help you develop specialised technical knowledge in geomechanical engineering, and learn about the physical and chemical propertises of soil and rocks.You will complete core professional engineering units and specialist units in geomechanical engineering, in addition to a capstone comprising either a research project or a dissertation.You will also complete elective units as needed to make up the requirements of the course.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:

an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree in the relevant discipline with a credit average (65 percent) or equivalent qualification, or

an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent, and five years relevant professional work experience, or

the relevant University of Sydney Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate in Engineering with a credit average (65 percent).
