The ICMS Master of Event Management is designed for working professionals seeking formal qualifications, as well as students seeking exposure to best practice within the event sector. It is a postgraduate degree that aims to develop strategic thinking and conceptual, analytics and current, practical skills. Successful events can result in sustainable social, economic and infrastructure outcomes and are emerging as a key strategy for communities coping with globalisation and the new economy. Underpinning a strong emphasis on the international event sector, the Master of Event Management is designed to develop strategic management skills and knowledge that may be applied to the delivery of events in a range of local, national and global settings. Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to: Apply advanced and integrated knowledge of complex theoretical concepts relevant for the event industry. Develop innovative, evidence-based solutions to complex event management problems, applying initiative and critical thinking skills. Communicate and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders using advanced oral and written communication skills, adeptly adjusting to varying contexts and digital channels. Analyse and assess the impacts, trends, and issues in event management using expert judgement, and supported by evidence and reasoning. Critically evaluate and apply sustainable practices, risk management processes, and ethical and cultural (including indigenous) considerations to plan and execute events effectively, safely, and ethically. Design, lead, and evaluate events that demonstrate imaginative and critical analysis skills, incorporating diverse sources of information and appropriate technologies. Conduct independent research to provide relevant and reliable evidence to support event management decisions, employing reflective and critical thinking. Plan, manage, and execute events using advanced project management techniques and other specialised tools and frameworks for effective event execution.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must meet one (1) of the following criteria: Successful completion of a bachelor degree from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent. Successful completion of a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent. Successful completion of at least two award, or non-award postgraduate subjects (at AQF Level 8 or above) from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent. Successful completion of an approved Postgraduate Qualifying Program from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent. For mature age entry (21plus): successful completion of a diploma or associate degree qualification (or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Government's qualifications recognition tool) and four years of relevant management experience
