What will I learn?

The ICMS Master of Information Technology (Cyber Security) is an innovative postgraduate degree which meets an explosion of opportunity due to the rise of cyber threats, generative artificial intelligence (AI) and shifts in human behaviour. This is an exciting time to be in Information Technology (IT). With this contemporary and industry-aligned postgraduate MIT degree, specialising in Cyber Security, students will become holistically equipped cyber security professionals, ready to play their part in the war against adversarial AI and cyber crime. The degree blends the practical and theoretical aspects of cyber security across a range of key areas such as network security, cyber security management, security operations and identity management, Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud security, cyberlaw, ethics and governance. Additionally, students will have an opportunity to explore more advanced cyber security topics and the latest industry trends such as the use of artificial intelligence and blockchain technology for threat management and mitigation. Students will also have an opportunity to complete a Cyber Security IT Consulting Project as well as gain real-world work experience through their Professional Placement. With a strong emphasis on industry relevance, the ICMS MIT (Cyber Security) degree goes beyond theoretical knowledge, placing students in real-world IT job settings as an integral part of their qualifications. As an ICMS MIT (Cyber Security) student you will have the opportunity to complete a Professional Placement (internship) in an Australian or international business within your two (2) Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects, included within the degree. Professional placements are arranged for you by the dedicated ICMS WIL team who will work with you to secure an individually tailored internship role aimed at building your Australian business networks and connections, as well as providing real life work experience that supports your future career aspirations.
