The School of Education is the largest School in the University with more than 3400 students studying in teacher education programs, around 950 postgraduate students undertaking advanced study in education, and more than 180 students completing Masters or Doctoral programs by research. While many students study on campus, either at Newcastle (Callaghan), Central Coast (Ourimbah), Port Macquarie or North Rocks (through the Renwick Centre), the School also delivers a number of its programs online with access to students in countries throughout the world. The School of Education achieved an outstanding result in the 2013 QS World University Rankings by Subject, where Education at Newcastle ranked in the top 150 universities in the world at 128. In 2012, School staff produced over 130 book or journal publications, attracted 2,156,172 in grant funding, and were supervising 160 research higher degree candidates. Our strong research performance has attracted national and international attention, and seen our academic staff rewarded with NHMRC fellowships, ARC and NHMRC grants, and other prestigious recognition.
