What will I learn?

Fine Art incorporates studios in photomedia, sculpture, painting, printmaking, ceramics, fibres and textiles, and art history/theory. The University of Newcastle encourages cross-and trans-disciplinary practice, new media and reflexive practice. PhD and Masters by Research students will benefit from our national and international reputation in creative work, scholarly research and teaching. Newcastle's studios and teaching spaces are second to none, including state-of-the-art photomedia facilities, airy painting studios, the only university foundry on the east coast of Australia, over a dozen kilns, as well as printing and papermaking machines.

Entry requirements

For international students

i) have satisfied all of the requirements for admission to the degree of Bachelor with Honours Class 1 or Honours Class II, Division 1 or any other degree approved for this purpose by the Head of School; orii) have satisfied all the requirements for admission to a degree of Bachelor in the University or another degree approved for this purpose by the Head of School; oriii) in exceptional cases produce evidence of possessing such other academic or professional qualifications and/or experience as may be approved by the Head of School; oriv) in the disciplines of education, medical physics, nursing, social work, social sciences and surgery have completed a minimum standard of professional experience as required by the Head of School; and
