What will I learn?

Learn about pressing local and global social justice issues. Examine how gender shapes people's lives, experiences, knowledge and possibilities. You’ll explore how gender relates to race, class, sexuality, ability, age and other identity categories.CareersArtist or filmmaker, Communications officer, Counsellor, Cultural programs coordinator, Diversity officer, HR coordinatorInternational development officer, Journalist, Legal professional, Librarian or archivist, Outreach worker, Program or project managerPublic policy analyst, Research consultant, Sexual health, inclusion, anti-racism, sexualized violence educator, Social media managerStudent services officer, Teacher or instructor, Volunteer coordinator ead to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. A certificate in Gender Studies is now avaialble as an option. The difference between the three programs is the amount of concentration in gender studies: an honours program requires more GNDR courses than a major, which in turn requires more than a minor or general program.

Entry requirements

For international students

completion of four years of full-time academic studies in which all language of instruction is English, at a high school or post-secondary institution in a recognized English-speaking countryHigh school diploma or equivalent (academic stream) with high-level results / minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalentcompletion of Grade 12 English or its equivalent in Canada with a final grade of 86% or higher within the last three years prior to admissiona score of 86% or higher on the BC Provincial Grade 12 English Examination within the last three years prior to admissiona score of 4 or higher on the Advanced Placement Exam in English Language and Compositiona score of 4 or higher on IB Higher Level English A
