What will I learn?

English is a vibrant and warm home to a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Students can choose from undergraduate programs that offer foundation-building approaches to literary traditions in the English language (covering the Medieval and Renaissance, through the Enlightenment, Romantic, Victorian, to the Modern, Postmodern, and contemporary periods) as well as to writing and rhetoric.Creative writing degree programs at the University of Windsor combine critical and literary coursework. Our workshops are conducted in an intimate, informal seminar format where students learn from and discover each other's writing, and are mentored by creative writing faculty who are writers and actively engaged with the best in their fields.Along with our department’s complement of hands-on practicum courses in writing, editing, and publishing, our combined programs give students a range of career path options.Career Tracks: Writer, copywriter, screen writer, editor, publisher, communications director, journalist

Entry requirements

For international students

A minimum overall score of 176 on the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or the Cambridge English:Proficiency (CPE); or Successful completion of the University of Windsor's English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) (levelIII) with a minimum final grade of 75%; or Receive a minimum of five semester transfer credits based on work completed at a recognized Englishspeaking University in at least one term of full-time study (not applicable to graduate applicants); orReceive a minimum of ten transfer credits based on work completed at an Ontario College of Applied Artsand Technology (CAAT) or equivalent post-secondary institution with an overall transfer admission averageof B (not applicable to graduate applicants); or Completion of the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a minimum score of 4 or better in an HLor SL English A: Literature OR HL or an SL English A: Language and Literature course; English B course is notacceptable (not applicable to graduate applicants); or Be academically admissible under the British-based GCSE, IGCSE or GCE credentials and achieve a minimumfinal grade of B (6 in reformed qualifications) in an Ordinary (O) Level English Literature or English Languagecourse OR a minimum final grade of ‘C in an Advanced (A) Level or Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level EnglishLanguage, English Language and Literature, or English Literature course (not applicable to graduateapplicants); or Successful completion of an English Language Training Program offered by a publicly-assisted CanadianUniversity, which if fulfilled would be deemed as meeting the ELP requirements for that institution; orSuccessful completion of an English Language Training Program offered by a private Canadian LanguageTraining provider, who is Languages Canada accredited and deemed by the Registrar as having establishedpathways to programs offered by peer institutions.
