The Bachelor of Physical Education Studies is a three-year undergraduate degree. The BPES provides students with in-depth knowledge of the field of physical education and with the fundamental and specialized skills required by physical educators.The degree offering students a choice of three streams of study: Exercise Science & Fitness, Recreation & Sports Management, and Teaching. Courses in the BPES degree offer students insight and understanding of the human body, including its physical, psychological, sociological, and physical education-related aspects, as well as the fundamental and specialized skills needed by physical educators, exercise science and health professionals, personal trainers, coaches, and sport administrators. The Exercise Science and Fitness Stream is designed for (no overlap permitted with courses/subject areas applied to 21 credit hours identified above): students who want to pursue a career in Kinesiology, Athletic Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Personal Training and Fitness Leadership. The Recreation and Sport Management Stream is designed for students who want to pursue a career in recreation and sport. Students selecting the Exercise Science and Fitness Stream or the Recreation and Sport Management Stream who want to remain eligible to apply to the BEd after degree program must also meet all requirements of the Teaching Stream. The BPES degree also offers the opportunity to obtain certification and credits through the following organizations: -The Coaching Association of Canada. -Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP). -Manitoba Fitness Council (MFC). A variety of physical activity courses Opportunity to receive certification in coaching through the National Coaching Certification Program.
