What will I learn?

Actuarial Mathematics is an interdisciplinary program leading to a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree. The program covers mathematical, statistical, financial and economic concepts required to develop skills in the modelling and management of financial risk and unpredictable events.High-paying, high-demand careersActuarial work is particularly relevant in life insurance and financial services like funds management and banking. It includes the study of models used in insurance and superannuation to quantify and manage risks such as survival, sickness, retirement, accident, fire, flood and fluctuations in asset values.Actuarial studies is a broadly-based commerce discipline involving the study of mathematics, statistics, accounting, economics and finance and their application to long-term financial management. The program is offered in collaboration with the Warren Centre for Actuarial Studies and the Asper School of Business and places a great emphasis on mathematical and statistical courses.

To declare the BSc Honours in Actuarial Mathematics you first must be accepted to the Faculty of Science. The following are the minimum requirements for entry into the Faculty of Science.Direct entry means you are applying to the program directly out of high school or have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at a recognized university or college.Advanced entry Applicants are those who have completed one year (24 credit hours) or more of studies in another faculty at the University of Manitoba or another recognized post-secondary institution.
