What will I learn?

Explore how molecules work in living systems and develop a deeper understanding of how simple biochemical interactions support life. A biochemistry and molecular biology degree gives you the foundation to further your study in medicine, pharmacy, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology or a career in teaching.You will begin your studies with a broad range of courses in natural sciences, followed by an introduction to biochemistry in your second year. In the third year, explore DNA – the blueprint of life proteins – the machines that make our bodies work and a wide range of other molecular topics.Your degree culminates in your fourth year with courses in oncology, the evolution of life, advanced genetics, and much more. Acquire the necessary expertise in the foundations of biochemistry, such as organic and physical chemistry and then explore how biological molecules operate in living systems. Learn how science asks questions and develop an understanding of the workings of nature.

Entry requirements

For international students

International secondary and post-secondary credentials are considered. International students must meet the equivalent of the criteria outlined for high school admission and university transfer in British Columbia. Admission is based on the comparison of standards for credentials and grading in the country of origin. Applicants whose first language is not English must be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in English.For admission from a GCE system (or equivalent) a minimum of two Advanced (A) level subjects and three Ordinary (O) level subjects must be completed with an overall GPA of C or higher in order to be considered for admission. All A level subjects presented for admission must have a grade of at least C. Students may substitute two Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level subjects for one A level.
