Chemistry looks at the atoms and molecules that make up the world and how they interact, combine and change. Our Chemistry programs offer study in analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry to help prepare you to use your knowledge of the processes of matter to create new substances or examine existing ones.The Department of Chemistry is one of the largest research-focused departments at the University of Manitoba with world-class facilities and course options. Students have access to advanced instrumentation and extensive opportunities for undergraduate research. We are one of a small number of chemistry departments in Canada that includes biochemistry.A degree in science can open doors to numerous opportunities and professions. By studying general science, you will be able to think critically, communicate effectively, collect, analyze and interpret data using statistical analysis, safely operate complex equipment, and follow technical manuals with accuracy and proficiency.
