Acadia’s Jodrey School of Computer Science will help you move beyond being just a user of computers. You will learn how to design and implement computer systems that solve real-world problems.We offer you an excellent experience during your university career. Our programs are accredited by the Canadian Information Technology Professionals Society (CIPS). This ensures that you will receive the best education possible. Small class sizes will provide you with a friendly learning environment. You will work closely with your professors.You can choose from among the following programs:Bachelor of Computer ScienceBachelor of Computer Science with HonoursBachelor of Applied Computer ScienceBachelor of Science with Honours in Computer ScienceThe Bachelor of Computer Science degree is a 4-year program meant to meet and exceed CIPS and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) standards for undergraduate programs. Our program provides a mix of the following:computational theorysystems and architecture knowledgeproblem solvingsystems analysisapplication development skills and experienceThe degree requires that you complete all core courses with grades of C- or better and a PGPA of at least 2.0.For the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science, we offer defined options in the following:software developmentgame developmentdata analyticsmobile and ubiquitous computingsecond major optioninterdisciplinary study optionThe BACS and BSc also offer options to take a second major or an interdisciplinary minor.Our programs are designed for students who do not have any programming experience. If you do have programming experience, please let us know. We may be able to fast-track your first-year courses.As you learn, you will also develop skills in interpersonal relations, communication, teamwork, project management, and entrepreneurship. Our second major and interdisciplinary study options allow you to combine computer science with other areas of science, arts and professional studies at Acadia.Acadia’s award-winning co-op program allows you to work at leading software companies during your educational journey, helping you to earn money while you study. The co-op program boasts high placement rates at companies from across Canada.

Entry requirements

For international students

Official transcripts from all educational institutions attended. IB Diploma including IB English with an overall score of 24 or better. If you are admitted to Acadia University with a score of 30 or higher on the IB Diploma, you will receive 30 hours of university credit. Transcripts should be certified by the school and prepared in a sealed envelope by the school. Official language test results
