Develop a strong understanding of the fundamental concepts in analytical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. Emphasis is placed on practical, hands-on experience on modern scientific instrumentation and students are often involved in research and outreach activities. Chemistry graduates are employed in computers and telecommunications, fine and heavy chemical manufacturing, food and beverage production, mining and metallurgy, petroleum, pharmaceuticals/drugs, plastics, and pulp and paper. They are also employed by government agencies in education, forensic investigation, mineral analysis, public health, research and development support for resource industries, technical and analytical information development, waste management, and water and air quality management.
