Discover patterns behind data and develop a deep understanding of observation, hypothesis, evidence and validation. The science of understanding and managing uncertainty is ultimately concerned with using theory and methods to extract information from data to make informed decisions about real-world problems.This program provides you with a solid understanding in theoretical, computational and applied aspects of statistical science. Modern statistics deals with all forms of information, including numeric, categorical and/or textual. Statisticians use mathematical and computational tools to make sense of data, an essential skill in all fields of science, industry and government. This program provides students with a solid grounding in the theoretical, computational, and applied aspects of statistical science. Students also specialize in an area of application by fulfilling stream requirements in another discipline. A graduate of this program is prepared for further study in statistical science, or to enter into a career in Statistics Canada, health sciences, business, government, industry, or an actuarial/financial institution. Each student must consult with the program advisor in his or her first or second year for advice in planning third- and fourth-year courses.
