What will I learn?

Building on the University of Guelphs long-standing reputation in the areas of biology and natural resource management, Wildlife Biology and Conservation is currently the only major in Canada that explicitly integrates ecology, evolution, and conservation into a four-year major.This major empowers you to explore the relationship between ecosystems and organisms, from the molecular level to populations, as well as ways to conserve species through natural system management and interdisciplinary approaches of ecology, evolution and conservation.After building a foundation in the biological sciences, youll have the flexibility in your upper years to focus your courses on some or all of the programs three themes: ecology, evolution and conservation. In your fourth year, youll take a capstone course, which allows you to ask and test a research problem of interest to you.

Entry requirements

For international students

The secondary school graduation certificate which would admit a student to an internationally recognized university in their home country is normally acceptable for admission to the University of Guelph.Students presenting predicted, interim or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meeting the minimum grade requirements. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with 6 subjects: 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level with a minimum score of 28. Bonus marks from TOK and EE will be taken into consideration. Prerequisites for the major must be taken at the IB DP2 level.Note: For programs with Advanced Math, students must present one of: SL/HL Analysis & Approaches, or HL Applications & Interpretations. Math Studies/Standard Level Applications and Interpretations are not an acceptable prerequisite for programs that require Advanced Math or Calculus.
