What will I learn?

Learn to professionally maintain motor vehicles and adapt to the ever-evolving automotive industry. Through the Automotive Technician program, you will build the skills needed to professionally repair cars and light trucks and start a successful career in the automotive industry. Through this program, youll gain a foundational understanding of vehicle systems and explore the purpose, design, operation and maintenance requirements of various vehicle components. Most of your training will take place in RRC Polytechs auto mechanics workshop, an environment that gives you the practical experience required for industry employment. Youll also work onsite as part of a field experience opportunity, building work experience and expanding your professional network with an industry partner. As an Automotive Technician student, you can choose to complete a one-year certificate or enhance your employment potential and explore advanced opportunities through a two-year diploma.Certificate: After completing the first year of this program, you can choose to graduate with an Automotive Technician certificate and start your career.Diploma: Choose to continue your education and graduate with an Automotive Technician diploma.

Entry requirements

For international students

Regular Admission Requirements

Grade 12

Submit proof of graduation from or enrolment in Grade 12, including one credit in each of the following:

Grade 12 English

Grade 12 Math

Grade 10 Science

If you provide proof of enrolment at time of application, your official final grades indicating successful completion must be submitted by July 15 for fall enrolment or by the deadline specified in your admission letter

Mature Student Admission Requirements

If you are 19 years of age or older and have been out of high school for a minimum of one year at time of application, and you do not meet the regular admission requirements, you may apply under the Mature Student admission requirements.

Academic Requirement

High school graduation is not required, but you must have successfully completed or be enrolled in:

One credit in each of the following courses:

Grade 10 English

Grade 10 Science

Grade 10 Applied Math 20S or Pre-Calculus Math 20S, or Grade 11 Consumer Math 30S or Essential Math 30S

or

RRC's Academic Foundations program

English Language Requirements:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS - Academic): Listening 6.5, Speaking 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 6.5 or

CAEL and CAEL Online (Canadian Academic English Language): Listening 60, Speaking 60, Reading 60, Writing 50

PTE - Academic Online Assessment (Pearson Test of English): Listening 58, Speaking 58, Reading 58, Writing 42

TOEFL - iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language - internet Based Test): Listening 20, Speaking 20, Reading 19, Writing 18

Duolingo (Duolingo English Test): minimum overall score of 115 required.
