Accounting and Financial Management professionals are the backbone of any organization and Langara grads are ready to meet that challenge. The BBA Accounting Concentration includes the requirements needed to maximize exemptions for the CPA BC 'CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)'. In addition, business and general education courses are incorporated to ensure graduates receive a well-rounded business education, with an emphasis on business decision-making and analysis, strategic management, and teamwork.
The Financial Management Diploma offers students who are not planning on pursuing a CPA designation the flexibility to choose electives from other business areas and/or non-business courses.
Students interested in Accounting should apply to the BBA program through the School of Management and then select Accounting as their concentration.

First-Year Entry
By applying to the School of Management BBA programs and entering in year 1, you have the option of completing a BBA Degree, exiting after two years with a diploma, or earning both the BBA and a diploma. All our programs offer Co-operative Education options.
Third-Year Entry
Students with previous business education may enter the School of Management BBA programs in year 3. Some bridging courses may be required. Please contact the School of Management for details.
The objective of this two-year diploma program is to prepare for careers in accounting. The curriculum includes a mix of business and academic courses that provide students with both the practical skills required in accounting and proficiency in business decision-making and analysis.
Graduates of this program who meet the minimum academic entrance requirements will:
Be able to ladder into the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, and
Meet the prerequisite requirements for the CPA Canada Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF).
Students who wish to participate in this option must maintain above-average academic standing and demonstrate potential for success in their chosen professional field.
One four-month work term (a minimum of 420 hours) must be completed for a co-op designated diploma. Employers provide co-op instructors with job descriptions to be posted. Students submit their resumes via the co-op instructors who will submit the package to the employer and arrange job interviews. Students are strongly encouraged to start building their professional network and be an active participant in self-marketing in order to source their co-op work placement.
Employers make the hiring decisions and establish the working conditions, salary and benefits. The co-operative education option has proven to be of great benefit to students. Students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge, to develop skills in a practical work setting, and to gain related experience before commencing their professional careers.

Admission Requirements
To be admitted and participate in the co-operative education option, students must:
Be enrolled in three or more program courses (minimum nine credits), not including EXPE 2300 (formerly BUSM 2300/COOP 2300);
Achieve and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.6 in each term;
Successfully complete an employability assessment interview with a Co-op instructor; and
Complete EXPE 2300 (formerly BUSM 2300/COOP 2300) with a minimum 'C' grade.
