What will I learn?

A general business management education provides the versatility to work in a variety of management careers. Langara College’s Business Management graduates are the chameleons of the work world and are able to draw on their solid business education to tackle business opportunities and problems. As well, those with an entrepreneurial spirit will gain the expertise to operate their own enterprise. In addition to courses from a variety of business areas including marketing, financial management and international business, students who choose this concentration complete general education support courses.This practical, interdisciplinary, career-oriented two-year diploma program prepares students for a variety of management positions. The Diploma in Business Management program provides students with a solid grounding in a variety of business subjects including accounting, marketing, research methods in business, management principles, organizational behaviour, entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial financial management, business planning, business presentation skills, law and courses such as economics, English, communications, and mathematics of business.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have a BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).

Academic Requirements

To be admitted and participate in the co-operative education option, students must:

Be enrolled in three or more program courses (minimum nine credits), not including EXPE 2300 (formerly BUSM 2300/COOP 2300);

Achieve and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.6 in each term;

Successfully complete an employability assessment interview with a Co-op instructor; and

Complete EXPE 2300 (formerly BUSM 2300/COOP 2300) with a minimum 'C' grade.

English Language Requirements

  • A minimum 70% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, or Literary Studies 12;
  • Langara English Test (LET) with a score of 3;
  • An 'S' grade in ENGL 1107 or 1110; or a minimum 'C' grade in ENGL 1120;
  • A minimum 'C-' grade in an English (Post-Secondary Transfer) course;
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an English-speaking country completed at a recognized institution where the language of instruction is English;
  • IB English A (HL or SL) or IB English Literature and Performance (SL) with a score of 3;
  • AP English Literature and Composition or AP English Language and Composition with a score of 2; or
  • A minimum 'C' grade in GCSE O-Level English, GCSE English Language B
  • *There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
