What will I learn?

Managing information has never been more important and information technology professionals are in demand,installing applications,designing complex computer networks,developing information databases, andmanaging systems.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are a must, as troubleshooting and helping others are vital aspects of the job. Additionally, since there is constant interaction with other computer personnel, customers, and employees on the job, IT specialists must be able to communicate effectively on paper, through email, and in person.Complete the certificate in one year, or pursue the diploma, which has two majors:Software and Internet Development (two years)Network and System Administration (two years)

Entry requirements

For international students

High School Route:ELA 30-1 (min. 50%) or ELA 30-2 (min. 60%)Math 30-1 (min. 50%) or Math 30-2 (min. 65%), or Math 20-1 (min. 65%)Prior Learning Assessment and Advance CreditPrior Learning Assessment may be granted for extensive work experience. This must be completed well in advance of the beginning of the program. (See the calendar section on Prior Learning Assessment for more details.) Advance Credit for previous post-secondary training may be possible. Application for Advance Credit must be made through the Office of the Registrar for the courses for which exemption is sought, preferably before the term in which such courses are offered.
