What will I learn?

Studio 58 is the professional theatre training program at Langara College, located in Vancouver, British Columbia. We offer nationally-recognized training for both actors and production personnel. Studio 58 offers three-year programs for Acting and Production.Particular emphasis is placed on the development of an integrated voice and body as an expressive tool. Communication with the audience and fellow actors is stressed. Students are also encouraged to develop their creative contribution to the theatre process. The acting option comprises six terms.Theatre Arts at Studio 58 offers a three-year acting diploma program and theatre production diploma program designed to prepare students for a professional career in theatre, film, television, and related arts. The programs graduate actors and production personnel who have a professional level of commitment and aptitude and who have acquired the skills to become contributing members of these professions. We maintain a close liaison with professional companies in Vancouver, casting agents, and directors, most of whom regularly employ our graduates. Intake is limited to ensure students receive intensive individual training.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have a BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).

English Language Requirements

  • A minimum 50% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, Literary Studies 12;
  • Langara English Test (LET) with a score of 2;
  • An 'S' grade in ENGL 1107 or 1110; or a minimum 'C' grade in ENGL 1120;
  • A minimum 'D' grade in an English (Post-Secondary Transfer) course;
  • IB English A (HL or SL) or IB English Literature and Performance (SL) with a score of 2;
  • AP English Literature and Composition or AP English Language and Composition with a score of 2; or
  • A minimum 'C' grade in GCSE O-Level English, GCSE English Language B.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
