What will I learn?

All students in the Faculty of Education will now make use of the new Education Student Services (ESS) centre. Located on the first floor of the Education complex, ESS is the new first point of contact for all general inquiries from current and prospective students in the faculty.In-person and online learning is also being supported by the U of A’s Office of the Registrar, which launched a new Student Service Centre to provide one point of contact for the information, support and services students need for their university journey. Current students are reminded to monitor their university email account for updates and changes throughout the year. The majority of this information is in addition to the regulations of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research. Prospective students should familiarize themselves with the applicable regulations contained in the current University Calendar. In cases of dispute, the official reference is the Calendar.

Entry requirements

For international students

The Department's minimum admission requirements are a master's degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.5 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution. The admission GPA will be calculated on the last 60 of graded coursework completed, or on the equivalent of the last two years of full-time graded coursework. In special circumstances a student with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.5 may be considered for admission.

The Educational Administration and Leadership specialization for the doctoral program require applicants to have of two years of teaching experience or equivalent.
