What will I learn?

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program is a rigorous, research-oriented program requiring the completion of a thesis. Taking specialization to the next level, this program builds on students' analytical skills and leads to careers in academics or corporate research. The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering is part of the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Engineering. Over the course of its 74 year history, the Department has consistently been internationally recognized for its research, teaching and academic excellence, attracting some of the best and brightest people. With over 50 professors and researchers, 300 graduate students, and more than 500 undergraduate students the Department of Chemical and Materials is a leading force in the development of innovative solutions for the world’s most pressing challenges.
