What will I learn?

Rigorous training in evidence-based assessment, treatment, and scientific inquiry prepares our PhD graduates for careers in research, teaching, and/or clinical practice. Our PhD program also provides numerous specialized, diverse internal and external practica in community health, acute care/hospital, forensics, and tertiary settings. The PhD is an advanced research degree program that requires original and substantive contributions to the advancement of the field of psychology.Graduates of the clinical psychology PhD will be prepared for careers that involve conducting independent research, consulting, and/or teaching in academia, government, industry, public health practice, and/or private practice. Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration as psychologists.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants to the clinical psychology PhD program will normally have a BA or BSc and a thesis-based MA (or equivalent) in clinical psychology or a related field, with clear evidence of research ability or potential. Your background training must be sufficient for advanced work in your chosen field.Applicants must also have the ability to clear a criminal record check for working with vulnerable adults/or children, in order to be eligible for program admission and for participation in the required Clinical practica.A complete application package will contain:Online application and application feeOfficial transcripts for all post-secondary institutions attendedEvidence of adequate English proficiency, where applicable (per our College of Graduate Studies*)CV or resuméThree reference forms or letters; two of which must be academic (references must be submitted by referees directly, not by applicants)Letter of intent describing research interests and plansAbility to clear criminal record check (required for admission and for practica)
