Master of Applied Science in Systems Engineering, Concentration in Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence

Canada

What will I learn?

The systems engineering graduate program is an interdisciplinary master’s-level program focused on the analysis, modelling, optimization and intelligent management of complex natural and human-made systems. It emphasizes transdisciplinary approaches and the development of analytical, computational, systems integration and artificial intelligence (AI) skills required to address complex, real-world challenges from a broad systems perspective. Students develop competencies in mathematical modelling, computer simulation, system analysis, optimization, decision support, prediction, control, and increasingly, AI-driven methodologies such as machine learning, data analytics, intelligent automation, digital twins, and predictive modelling. These tools enable the design of smarter and more adaptive systems capable of processing large volumes of data and supporting evidence-based decision making. The integration of AI within systems engineering allows students to explore applications in areas such as smart manufacturing, precision agriculture, transportation systems, supply chain optimization, health-care systems, environmental management, robotics and intelligent infrastructure. AI techniques complement traditional systems engineering approaches by enhancing system monitoring, forecasting, autonomous operation and optimization capabilities.
