The MA program requires the completion of 30 units, including a minimum of 18 units of course work as specified below, an original MA thesis, and an oral defence of the MA thesis.. There will no longer be a Course, Practicum and Project Option. Entrants wishing to engage in a practicum experience and/or pursue applied/evaluation research will be able to do so within the Thesis Option. Students are expected to complete the program requirements in 6 terms (2 years).There are many options for students interested in pursuing a master's degree in criminology. Students may complete a traditional MA by coursework and thesis, while others may wish to engage in a practicum experience and/or pursue applied/evaluation research.Students are required to complete course work and an original MA thesis. They are expected to identify a potential senior supervisor. Most students who choose this option either continue on to a PhD program or pursue a career in research, policy analysis or teaching.
