What will I learn?

At the Masters level, the Department offers a Masters of Arts (MA) in Geography and a Master of Science (MSc) in Physical Geography. Both progams require submission of a thesis and can be completed in six terms or less. Each program requires completion of at least 30 units.Our graduate programs combine outstanding academic preparation, with specialized technical and research skills to put you at the top of your field post-graduation. Engage in extensive scholarship, develop a network of professional contacts, and learn to collaborate across disciplines as you work to address some of the world's most pressing social and environmental problems. Small class sizes and leading-edge research and teaching faculty contribute to a welcoming and collegial graduate experience, where individual mentorship and rigourous academic preparation go hand-in-hand.

Entry requirements

For international students

Typically, candidates should have a bachelor of arts (BA) degree with a 3.25 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in geography or a related discipline to be considered for entry to the MA in geography.

English Language Requirements:

Internet-based TOEFL: 93 with minimum of 20 in each category

Paper-based TOEFL: 580 and TWE 5

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
