The Department of German and Slavic Studies has two graduate programs, one in German and one in Slavic Studies. As a German and Slavic studies student, you will explore in-depth the languages, cultures and literatures of Germany, Ukraine and Russia.Many students from our programs have spent part or all of an academic year in Europe. These programs give students a linguistic and cultural expertise which is difficult to acquire in any other way. All of our exchange and summer-study programs allow students to receive credit toward their University of Manitoba degree.Explore an in-depth study of literature and culture. Our department encourages the interdisciplinary growth of knowledge through its strengths in cultural studies, gender studies, literary history, and theory and linguistics.Once you have earned your MA degree, you will be recognized as having the kind of analytical, interpretive, and writing skills that foster success in whatever career or field you choose. Our students are well positioned to continue their studies and earn a doctorate degree or choose from a wide range of possibilities in the job market.
