What will I learn?

The Indigenous Studies Master's program fosters Indigenous research as sustainable at McMaster and locally and contributes to a national and international reputation of Indigenous research and curricular expertise at McMaster.In the Indigenous Studies Master’s program, learning may take the form of course work and a Community-based Research Project (CRP), or course work and Major Research Paper (MRP).Students will be required to complete the following:three (3) core coursesthree (3) elective courses, one of which must be an Indigenous Studies courseone (1) non-credit professional development course anda Major Research Paper or a Community-based Research Project.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to the Indigenous Studies Masters program requires an Honours Bachelors degree in Indigenous Studies or related field with an average of at least Bplus (equivalent to McMaster 8.5 GPA out of 12) in the final year of studies or better from a recognized university. In the Indigenous Studies Masters program, learning may take the form of course work and a Major-Community-Based Research Project (CRP), or course work and Major Research Paper (MRP).
