What will I learn?

Our MEng program will prepare you for advanced professional work in industrial settings, strengthening and extending your engineering knowledge. You'll carry these skills with you into a career in mechanical engineering. This is a project-based program that includes coursework and a graduate seminar.OutcomesGraduates with a MEng in Mechanical Engineering will be able to:apply subject matter knowledge in a range of contexts to solve problems, conduct critical thinking and make knowledgeable decisionsdevelop a coherent understanding through synthesis across subjects and related disciplines, use appropriate technologies and tools to solve problems and analyze the results, communicate effectively with a range of audiences, work in industry and research facilitiesThe MEng program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to strengthen and extend the knowledge you’ve gained at the undergraduate level. Our MEng program is intended to prepare students for advanced professional activity in various industrial settings. You’ll complete eight graduate-level courses, graduate seminar and a research project. All MEng students will be under the supervision of a member of the department’s graduate faculty.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants will normally hold an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. The minimum requirement for admission to the MEng is B (grade point average of 5.0 on the University of Victoria scale of 9.0) for the last two years of university work.Equivalent of a minimum “B” average over the last two years of your degree
