What will I learn?

The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) will provide you with comprehensive training in various areas such as clinical medicine, patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, pharmacology, and surgical procedures.



You will also gain practical experience through clinical rotations in various healthcare settings, including primary care, surgical services, medical services, psychiatric services, and emergency departments.



The first program of its kind in the Maritime Provinces, the MPAS will provide you with the skills, knowledge, and training required to increase access to care and make a significant contribution to health and wellbeing of Nova Scotians.

Entry requirements

For international students

Eligibility for admission to Dalhousie's Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program requires applicants to meet academic requirements (degree, GPA, pre-reqs) and non-academic requirements as determined from CASPer, Short-Answer Questionnaire/Supplemental and MMI. Applicants who do not meet all requirements are not considered for admission. Final selection for admissions is determined by MPAS Admissions Committee.

Minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or B average

Calculated using the last 60 credits hours of study

For applicants with graduate degrees, up to 15 credit hours can be applied in GPA calculation

Pass/Fail grades cannot be used in GPA calculation

All pre-requisite course grades (alpha/numerical) are required to be used in GPA calculation

Based on previous admission cycles, a 3.7 GPA is considered competitive
