What will I learn?

The Department of Clinical Studies strives to improve individual animal health by fundamental and clinical research in a variety of species: companion animals dogs and cats, as well as birds and exotic species, performance animals primarily horses and food-producing animals. Our clinical expertise encompasses Anaesthesiology, Cardiology, Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Nutrition, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, and Surgery.The Master of Science MSc program requires a minimum of 3 graduate courses and the preparation and defense of a research-based thesis, to be completed in approximately 6 semesters.The coursework-plus-major-project option will comprise a minimum of 4.5 credits, including six 0.5-credit graduate courses and a mandatory 1.0 credit, 2-semester major project course. The major project course will be supervised by the students advisory committee, and will consist of a literature review, participation in a clinical research project or retrospective study, preparation of a manuscript suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, and presentation in a Departmental seminar. A mark will be assigned by the advisory committee, based on the manuscript and oral presentation.

Entry requirements

For international students

Minimum Degree: Normally, the minimum requirement for admission to a master's program is successful completion of an undergraduate degree/ baccalaureate, in an honours program or the equivalent, from a recognized university. Minimum Admisson Average: 70% (B-) average is required in the last two years of full-time equivalent study. Calculating Admission Average: North American Degrees; A four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution. Typically, the last 20 one-semester courses consist of 10 Credits/60 Units/60 Hours For in-progress degrees, the total number of credits with grades that are used may be lower. E.g. 8 Credits/48 Units/48 Hours may have grades while 2 Credits/12 Units/12 Hours will be in progress. International Degrees; Country-specific degree equivalent to Guelph's four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution. Typically, the last 4 full-time semesters (or 6 full-time semesters for full-year education systems) equivalent credits.
