What will I learn?

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics is home to expert faculty who wish to work directly with graduate students on cutting-edge research in the mathematical sciences. Current research areas within our department include:AlgebraAnalysisApplied mathematicsBiostatisticsCombinatorics and discrete mathematicsGeometry (both algebraic and differential)Mathematical physicsProbabilityStatisticsTopologyThe Department offers a project-based (non-thesis) M.Math, a thesis‐based M.Sc., and a Ph.D. degree with specializations in applied mathematics, mathematics and statistics. We do not offer funding, including scholarships and awards, for M.Math students.

Entry requirements

For international students

A four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, or,

A three-year first cycle undergraduate degree, in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, from an institution that meets the criteria set forth in the Bologna Declaration, will be acceptable as the equivalent of an undergraduate honours degree.

A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (USask grade system equivalent) in the last two years of full-time study (e.g. 60 credit units USask equivalent).

Demonstrated ability for independent thought, advanced study, and research.
