What will I learn?

The demand for food and water security and sustainable forestry and agricultural practices is increasing. We've answered the global call for expertise and understanding of our boreal ecosystem. At Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, you'll be provided the opportunity to develop new technical knowledge and management skills, equipped with a strong focus on the science and economics of plant, soil, land and water resources in the context of sustainable boreal agriculture and forestry.

You'll use the laboratory and field equipment, techniques and protocols in Grenfell's new state-of-the art Boreal Ecosystems Research Facility. You'll apply critical thought to community-engaged research and innovation under the supervision of world-class researchers. You'll get real-life experience in a boreal setting.

Entry requirements

For international students

Master of Science (MSc) from an institution recognized by the Memorial University of NL Senate

A cumulative weighted average of at least 75% (MUN grade system equivalent).
Demonstrated ability for creativity, independent thought, advanced study and independent research.

The minimum English proficiency test scores are as follows:

TOEFL: An aggregate score of 80 (92 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).

IELTS Academic: An aggregate score of 6.5 (7 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).

Duolingo English Test: An aggregate score of 115 (125 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).

CAEL - A score between 50 and 60 in each of four bands, with at least 2 band scores of 60.

MET: A score of 59%.

PTE Academic - Minimum scores of 58 in each of reading, writing, listening, and speaking
