What will I learn?

Social workers are trained to 'help people help themselves'. In this program you will learn how to help people meet the demands of daily life by helping to increase their access to resources, services and opportunities as individuals or within their communities. The mission of the Social Work Diploma Program at RDP is to graduate ethical and compassionate social workers committed to anti-oppressive practice and social justice. The focus of social work is on the interactions between people and their social environment. The program examines how to help people meet the demands of daily life by helping to increase their access to resources, services and opportunities as individuals or within their communities. In this program, you will learn to identify gaps and challenges in those systems and ways in which they can be addressed.

Entry requirements

For international students

Three years of full-time education in English in a regular high school or post-secondary credit program:completed within Canada, including the grade 12 year; orcompleted in an English-speaking country; orcompleted at a recognized school or institution with English as the primary language of instruction.A 'Medium of Instruction' letter may be requested. Students applying to Social Work must have:50% in ELA 30-1 OR 65 percent in ELA 30-250 percent in Social Studies 30-1 OR 50 percent in Aboriginal Studies 30 OR 65 percent in Social Studies 30-2OR Accuplacer Test with a minimum score of 250 on the Reading component, 250 on the Writing component, and 5 on the WritePlacer Essay.
