What will I learn?

Gain the skills needed to enter and maintain employment.Offered since 1981, the Transitional Employment Program (TEP) is an 11 month program for adults with developmental disabilities. This program includes courses such as financial management, workplace communications, transition to the workplace, consumer skills and workplace relations allowing you to gain skills needed to enter and maintain employment. You will receive faculty support to establish goals, monitor progress and evaluate achievement.Seventy per cent of the program involves hands-on work experience training on-campus or in the town of Olds, Alberta business community.Program OutcomesUpon successful completion of this program, graduates will receive a Certificate of Achievement in Transitional Employment.Work-Integrated LearningStudents participate in an off-campus work practicum providing extended employment training that can lead to full-time employment.

Entry requirements

Admission Requirements:

This program is for adults with mild developmental disabilities.
Must be 18 years of age or older, on or before, of the program start date
Required Documentation:
- Proof of completion or participation in a vocational, integrated occupational or special education program
- Diagnosis of developmental disability
- Two letters of reference highlighting applicants ability and willingness participate independently in class and at the work site
- Copy of High School transcripts
- Examples of previous work experience (if available)

Applicants must:

- Be prepared to function independently in class and at the work site
- Be able to participate in a group setting
- Be ready for employment
An interview with a Transitional Employment Program Learning Coach is a required part of the admission to the program. Not all applicants will advance past the interview stage.
