What will I learn?

Your course will be taught through the medium of Irish. You will learn about all aspects of New Irish: from Fiannaicht in the 13th century to Máirtn Ó Cadhain and Nuala N Dhomhnaill today. You will greatly improve your ability to speak and write Irish, and you will do a formal study on the correct use of the language. You will have the opportunity to attend lectures on: the storytelling of the past, the social history of the language, folklore, school poetry, the Testimony and all modern literature, ie short stories, drama, novels, autobiographies and poetry. You will spend two months in the Gaeltacht in Ireland as part of your course. A special feature of the Modern Irish course at Coláiste na Tr on óide is that only here you will have the chance to spend three years with Scottish Gaelic (a' Gaelic). You will also have the chance, if you wish, to spend a period in Scottish Gaelicity.
