The BA (Hons) in Home Economics at SETU is a comprehensive three-year honours degree that combines scientific, social, and applied learning to prepare graduates for life and work in families, communities and broader society. You’ll explore the interconnections between nutrition, health, wellbeing, consumer behaviour, and sustainable living. Through hands-on labs, community engagement, and real‐world project work, this programme develops both the practical skills and critical thinking needed to make a positive impact.
This degree equips you to understand how everyday choices, from food preparation and family resource management to policy and health promotion, shape individual and community wellbeing. With a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, ethical awareness, and innovation, graduates are ready for diverse careers in education, health promotion, policy, social services, food and nutrition industries, and community development.An exciting opportunity to study abroad is available on our Home Economics degree. After second year, students can choose to spend an extra year studying at a partner university abroad before returning to complete their final year at SETU. Students who take this option graduate with a Bachelor of Home Economics (Hons) International. Support is provided by an SETU Academic Advisor who facilitates the process and assists students in choosing a host university and subject areas that will meet the necessary criteria to ensure the choice is both enriching and successful.
