What will I learn?

Veterinary nursing is an exciting, diverse and challenging career. It is a job that requires a person to have exceptional communication skills, empathy, logical quick thinking and problem-solving ability. Some of the daily tasks undertaken by a veterinary nurse in practice include the following:Dispensing and administering of medication and fluid therapyPerforming laboratory diagnostic testsConducting diagnostic imagingAssisting in the provision of anaestheticsPreparing and assisting for/with veterinary surgical proceduresNursing clinicsBy undertaking TUS Midland’s BSc in Veterinary Nursing programme, you will learn to nurse companion animals, equine and farm animals, leaving you well equipped for a broad range of veterinary nursing careers. The programme is Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI) accredited and ACOVENE accredited.

Entry requirements

For international students

CAO Points: 430

Leaving Certificate

Laboratory-based science subject at Grade H6 in higher level or 03 in ordinary level, plus four subjects at Grade 06 at ordinary level, to include Mathematics and a language (English or Irish). Mature applicants who apply via CAO and who are shortlisted will be required to attend an interview.

QQI

QQI Level 5 award in any discipline in addition to the following three Leaving Certificate requirements: minimum of O6/H7 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics, a minimum of O3/H6 in any Science subject OR QQI Level 5 award in any discipline which should include a minimum of a pass in a QQI Mathematics module and a minimum of a Merit in a QQI Biology module as part of the QQI level 5 overall award.
